For most of my life I have been involved with motorsport in one way or another. For the last 25+ years that has been with marshalling. If you don't have the cash or inclination to race, but really enjoy the sport this is the best thing for you! It can have it's drawbacks, mainly weather and finishing time related but it is very rewarding and still gives me a tremendous buzz. We used to see 2 VEV the sister car to this racing in club events before it suffered a nasty accident (on the public road I believe), this is the first time I have seen 1 VEV. The DB4GT Zagato was unveiled at the 1960 Motor Show, these two cars were delivered to John Ogier's Essex Racing Team, later to be raced by among others Jim Clark and Roy Salvadori. Sadly both cars retired after three hours at Le Mans. Although Roy Salvadori took the car to victory in the TT at Goodwood in 1961.
Some useful Links: VIM have been very helpful to me and are doing good things for the sport, BMMC are the national club/body for marshals, MSA are the governing body of the sport as a whole. marshals.org is Julian Floyd's site which is great for volunteering, or just checking out what's on at the weekend. Flag Marshal is my site devoted to that discipline, mainly training for flag marshals, but there is also a mirror image website aimed at drivers, perhaps those new to the sport. www.marshals.org.uk www.flag-marshal.org.uk Try This Site I don't know who he is, but he is certainly eccentric! |
